For which tasks (responsibilities)?
Lead Environment Artist is part of the core management team that is responsible for managing and coordinating projects, whilst mentoring teams of artists to help them get from good to great. As a Lead Environment Artist, you will report to the Head of Production and the General Manager.
Work with the Senior Lead/ Art Director and external clients to establish and maintain the look of production.
Interact with Clients/Partners to establish short and long-term artistic goals, objectives, and operating procedures of a project.
Advise Project Managers in developing and implementing schedules; and overseeing the assigning and tracking of art assets
Communicate regularly with the artists and Project Managers - and if required, the clients, regarding project milestones and initiatives. Ensures to obtain executive guidance and approval when needed and is fully aware of the client's expectations for upcoming content drops or rejected assets.
Prepare and plan for the content submission packages to be sent to clients, ensuring that content is present, organized, quality-checked and ready to be submitted to client review in-time.
Create and maintain briefs and documents for asset creation and training.
Diagnose and understand Client/Partner technology and processes, and train artists in using it if required.
Monitors and evaluates production efficiency and affects changes in defining tools and art production pipelines and developing strategies to maximize performance.
Responsible for identifying and recommending areas of artistic growth of each artist to the Senior Lead/ Art Director.
Participate Assist in HR related processes such as monitoring staff well-being, identifying potential risks and recruitment initiatives.
Work with core management team in establishing and driving down team vision, mission and values. This includes being part of conducting timely exercises to ensure they are updated according to overall company goals
What kind of professional are we looking for?
Expert in at least THREE areas of artistic production using industry standard tools such as 3ds Max/Maya/Blender, Substance Painter and Designer/Quixel Mixer, Zbrush
Environmental modelling and planning
Vehicle modelling
Texturing
Environment Level Design/Placement
Organic sculpting
Proficient with the various game engines of the industry such as Unreal Engine 4, Unity etc.
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling and has strong knowledge of technical game art theory.
Strong artistic ability to visualize entire levels and detail with minimal concept art and direction.
Strong technical ability to manage assets to fit memory, design, and frame rate limitations.
Keen eye for light, shade, color and detail in creating texture maps of different material types. Full understanding of modern PBR texture workflow.
Strong knowledge of modular planning for large assets/environments. Able to plan and create modular pieces to be used to form different variations and plan out terrain and placement for levels.
Self-motivated- requires minimal direction, can carry on the vision for the level until completion while respecting gameplay and design needs.
