For which tasks (responsibilities)?

Limbic Entertainment is looking for a talented and experienced Senior Level Artist / Environment Artist (m/f/d) for an unannounced Unreal Engine 5 project. The job is full-time, on-site - interview and job entry can be fully remote until the situation allows to work on-site again.

As a Senior Level Artist / Environment Artist you will enjoy artistic ownership of gameplay levels while pushing your aesthetic and technical skills to the limit. Your passion lies in creating realistic worlds, exteriors and interiors, as well as natural landscapes. You will have worked already for several years in a professional capacity and shipped multiple products. With this experience, you will be a key player and a central spokesperson for the team. Working with and training colleagues will be a very important aspect of this position. You will have a strong sense of ownership of multiple level design/art-related development steps and will be a main contact person for leads and production.

 Your tasks will include:

• Participating in the creation of ideas and plans for locations/levels

• Working with level designers to ensure solid gameplay on the levels

• Using external and UE4/5 terrain-creation tools to shape topography of landscapes

• Mapping out scenery elements and props that help drive the story of the game

• Visual passes on levels, locations and cutscenes

• Creating and modifying environmental assets

• Lighting passes on locations and cutscenes to enhance the mood and to help direct gameplay

What kind of professional are we looking for?

• At least five years of industry experience in a level art/environment art capacity with at least two published titles

• Experience with materials/shaders and their relationship to light

• Experience of working with Unreal Engine

• Solid understanding of visual language - texture, color, dimension, scale, perspective, lighting, shade, composition depth of field, proportion, etc.

• Strong knowledge of geography, architecture and the laws of physics

• Ability to work well independently and within a team

• Self-motivated to solve creative problems

• Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication skills

• EU citizenship or a valid working permit for Germany
