Senior Narrative Designer

We are 4A Games! – a multinational video game development studio based in Malta and Ukraine. We’re known for our atmospheric and immersive first-person shooters Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Metro Redux, ARKTIKA. 1 and, our latest release, Metro Exodus. The studio was founded in Kiev, Ukraine in 2005 by a passionate team of game industry veterans with the goal of creating AAA-quality games. In 2014, the studio moved its headquarters, along with over 50 team members and their families, from Ukraine to the island of Malta.

All our experience, talent and enthusiasm are directed into creating games with deep stories, unique gameplay elements and highly-detailed realistic environments. Moreover, our in-house developed 4A Engine is constantly evolving – to go in line with latest industry trends and deliver amazing experiences on any modern machine. At the heart of the company, there are currently over 150 talented designers, programmers, artists, effects specialists and writers from all over the world, with diverse and unique backgrounds – bringing countless years of experience in and love towards computer games.

Design, gameplay, atmosphere and player experience are the pillars of our games. На які завдання (обов'язки)?

We are seeking a talented Senior Narrative Designer to join our team. The job will require creating, pitching, writing and maintaining storyline and lore in order to create immersive player experience and tie closely to gameplay. Working with plot, setting and characters of the universe of our New IP. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working closely with Design Lead and creative team in developing story and characters, participate in story line meetings and brainstorm sessions; 

• Maintaining, developing and supporting the setting and lore backbone of the universe; 

• Designing a complex system of universe lore ruleset and tie it closely to main gameplay mechanics; 

• Writing pitches and dialogs for cut-scenes;  

• Helping to create and updating game script; 

• Developing Characters' arches and trace their evolution;  

• Writing dialogues for side stories and quests; 

• Maintaining order in dialog database, keeping it ready for localization; 

Якого професіонала шукаємо?

• 3+ years of experience as Narrative Designer in PC / Console game industry; 

• Journalism or writers' education;  

• 3+ years of experience in Screenwriting or creative copywriting;  

• Experience in writing fiction and documentary texts and stories;  

• Excellent level of written and spoken English and Ukrainian; 

• Genuine interest and passion in video games;  

• Ability to create and develop Character arches;  

• Knowledge of dramatic and storytelling techniques;  

• Experience working with story based digital production (TV, drama, documentaries, film);  
  

PREFERENCES

• Have a big passion for writing and telling intricate stories;  

• Being confident and professional in your field. Released PC/Console games is a plus.  

• Ability to learn tools and pipelines quickly and adapt to our work specifics;  

• Ability of deep diving into the characters and understanding their features in order to progress the story;
