For which tasks (responsibilities)?
We are seeking a Principal 3D Environment Artist to join our team. The job will require working with the Art team to create cutting edge 3D modular asset sets and environments for our new AAA IP. Work closely with Designers, Concept Artists, and Art Directors to create highly detailed natural objects, parts of levels, and playable scenery.
Develop and refine environment assets including models, textures and materials to meet the project’s visual requirements and performance specifications.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to push the boundaries of visual style by introducing innovative tools, techniques, and workflows that enhance immersion and emotional impact.
Assist with defining and achieving the final render quality through a keen eye for scene composition, lighting, and materials.
Define standards for environment art and support the integration and feedback of outsourced assets.
Establish Art benchmarks for the Art team across different areas of the Environment Art pipeline.
Define working practices, maintain documentation, and ensure authored content is adhering to any defined structures and standards.
Maintain visual consistency across the environment and ensures that assets adhere to the established art style and technical guidelines.
Work together with the Tech-art team to improve workflow, ensuring a seamless integration of assets into the project.
Coordinate with other team members, including level design and production, to achieve project objectives.
Directly manage, teach, and mentor other artists.
What kind of professional are we looking for?
6+ years of experience in AAA game development, modelling, and texturing.
An exceptional understanding of current game art processes, limitations and dependencies.
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, silhouette, and composition.
Have an excellent eye for detail in level dressing and scene composition.
Meticulous work with textures and materials.
Extensive 3D knowledge with your preferred modelling package (Maya/Max/Blender), also Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer, and Baking Tools.
Experience in creating environments from small to large scale.
In-depth knowledge of pipeline requirements of real-time game art.
Have shipped at least one AAA PC or console title in a similar position.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Able to work creatively as part of a large or small group.
Knowledge of modern AAA pipelines.
Preferences
Technical or art education.
Experience in leading artists is a plus.
Experience with Jira/Miro is a plus.
Experience with game engines such as Unreal, Unity, etc.
Experience with photogrammetry is a plus.
Experience with vegetation assets is a plus.
Knowledge of additional software is a plus (SpeedTree, Houdini, World Machine etc.).
Knowledge of engine tooling and automation is a plus.
Experience with shader and material graphs is a plus.
Passion for pushing the envelope in detailing organic art such as nature environment assets and organic structures.
A passion for games.
