Team size and structure?


For which tasks (responsibilities)?

Technical setup, integration, and troubleshooting of VFX in a Unreal Engine 4.

Establishing and maintaining high standards for effects artwork whilst seeking ways to push the quality bar.

Design, create and implement custom and re-usable “real-time” particle effects, simulations and effects animations for gameplay, cinematics and scripted events.

Oversee the correction of the team’s bugs.

Become familiar with game design documents, and identify special effects opportunities and needs.

Check with programmers to see if the intended effects are viable in the engine, and propose alternative solutions and/or developments where needed.

Assist with the development and improvement of the VFX pipeline.

Work with lead artists and the art director to ensure timely completion of VFX assets.

Provide reviews to the Producer on the progress of the work carried out by the team.

What kind of professional are we looking for?

Experience with creating consistently brilliant, eye-catching, real-time FX using UE4 and in-game FX systems (Niagara);
Proficient with 3D graphics, particle systems, physics, ribbons, etc.;
Working knowledge of real time rendering engines, and a good understanding of the render thread in UE4.;
Organizational skills in handling large VFX libraries;
Solid game design awareness and an exceptional game design-oriented collaborator;
Self-driven, excellent communicator.

What is important for us in a person?

Previously shipped PC or console titles as a VFX artist
Experience authoring custom materials, a good understanding of how to optimize in the vertex and pixel shaders.
Skill in one or more related disciplines – modeling, animation, or technical art
Experience in Houdini and other simulation FX systems outside of particles and sprites.
